Winery of the Week: House of Hlela Royal Wines

Based in the Netherlands, Gugulethu Hlela with husband Igor Milovanovic owns the wine business named House of Hlela Royal Wines, which represents the wine brands Delisa and recently launched Bukhosi ('Royalty') in Europe. Gugulethu’s aunt, princess Ntombifuthi Zulu, owns the two brands, having lived overseas for decades and acquired a taste and love for wine. Her highness and daughter Thandiwe Ngubane also run SA’s first winefarm owned by royal Zulu women, Groot Droom, situated in the Paarl area. On the estate are parcels of old vines, including chenin blanc planted in 1976 and 1983, that are Old Vine Project certified.
