Classical cuisine with innovative twists & Asian influence
Owner/chef Harald Bresselschmidt has two venues specialising in food-and-wine pairing. Aubergine is an elegant, sophisticated restaurant serving an à la carte and degustation menu. The chef’s latest innovation is the 'small plate' dining concept, inviting a more spontaneous style of dining. Enjoy tapas, antipasti and mezze-style dishes with a selection of wines by the glass or a cocktail in the stylish, newly refurbished bar area of the restaurant. Harald’s substantial cellar gives his keen palate and culinary skills free rein to accent flavour, aroma and texture, whether preparing seafood, prime aged meat or produce from the restaurant’s organic garden. His function venue, Auslese, is open for pre-booked functions only, and here menus can be tailor-made for cocktail events, sit-down wine-pairing dinners, private birthday parties and corporate events. Auslese also hosts winemaker dinners.

Mediterranean cuisine
Located on the slopes of the Helderberg at a slightly higher elevation than neighbouring Rust en Vrede, the Stellenbosch Reserve Tasting Room & Restaurant overlooks the rolling vineyards of the winelands and is embraced by the surrounding mountains. Nestled next to the cellar, the space has rustic contours which add character to the clean, contemporary decor, with a nod to the winery’s ties to Stellenbosch town at its viticultural heritage. The flagstone patio covered in dappled shade invites visitors to linger and enjoy a refreshing glass of wine while soaking up the views and the countryside ambience of the winelands. On the menu, the sophistication of Mediterranean cuisine is combined with the rustic charm of home cooking. Aromatic and flavourful dishes have a focus on local ingredients and sustainable sourcing. The main attractions are the wood-fired oven and rotisserie, around which the menu has been built. Think crisp, thin-base pizza, and baby chicken roasted to perfection, ready to devour.
