Urban Brandy Cocktail Route a unique way to discover SA's acclaimed brandies

23 Dec 2013

Topics: Brandy, South African Brandy Foundation, Urban Brandy Cocktail Route

With a variety of trendy venues across Cape Town and the Peninsula, the Urban Brandy Cocktail Route offers a unique way for holidaymakers and locals to explore South Africa's internationally awarded brandies against the backdrop of the cosmopolitan cityscape.

The Route, launched in March 2013 with five Mother City-based hotspots, has grown rapidly to 20 venues spanning the Peninsula, from Hout Bay to Blouberg. Popular restaurants, bars, night-time hotspots and major luxury hotel chains, all firm favourites of Mother City locals, are now part of the Route.

Venues range from stylish and sophisticated to rustic and quirky. Each locale offers a specially designed menu of cocktails with a premium South African brandy at its base. Menus are influenced by fresh and exotic ingredients, such as ginger liqueur, peach extract and even peanut butter.

Rikkis Taxis, official transport partners of the Route, join the South African Brandy Foundation in supporting responsible drinking, and are on hand to take visitors on an exploration of sights, smells and tastes.

Bolstered by public enthusiasm for brandy and the success of the launch phase, the concept has gone national, with new Routes established in Johannesburg and Durban. Click here for a full list of venues.
